Wawasan open university

OVERVIEW

Wawasan Open University is Malaysia's first private, not-for-profit, open learning institution, a lifelong learning community without borders.

We use flexible approaches to make higher education accessible to all - anytime, anywhere. Our self-paced learning environment is specially designed for the convenience and accessibility of adult learners of any age, gender, ethnicity and background.

Funded by charitable trusts, corporations and the public, we aim to lower the personal cost of learning and make it more affordable.

If you wish to study for accredited qualifications or for personal enrichment without leaving your home or job, then Wawasan Open is for you.

OPEN DISTANCE LERANING ( ODL )

The campus comes to you

In Open Distance Learning, as the term implies, you learn from a distance. There may be a physical separation between the teacher and you, but our associate lecturers have a new role. They meet you for selected tasks such as counselling, giving tutorials or solving your learner-related problems.

In the traditional system of education, the teacher communicates content by word of mouth. In distance education, on the other hand, content is transmitted to you electronically, over the telephone and by teleconferencing as well as through pod casting, on-line comm

unication and traditional print material.

Take one course, several courses or take a break

Open distance learning appeals to a wider audience because it is more accessible and affordable.

You do not have to quit your present job. Our programmes allow you to continue your education without disrupting your family, social and work obligations. You may complete our courses at your own pace and convenience.

Our flexible programmes cater for working adults and others who are unable to

study on-campus or go on extended study leave. You

may study for a single course without committing yourself further. Alternatively, you may take several courses one after the other until you have obtained a qualification. You may even take a break between courses if you need to.

It doesn’t matter where you live either. Geographic

al location is no longer a barrier. So, if you live in a remote area or are unable to attend classes regularly, you can still realise your dreams. You can study at home, attend tutorials at nearby regional offices, and e-mail, instant message or phone our tutors for assistance.

Why our qualifications are valued

Employers today prefer their employees to upgrade t

hemselves with higher levels of qualification. Open distance learning helps you obtain the qualifications you need to succeed in your career.

Studying online requires real commitment and an independent spirit. Employers are quick to recognise these values in those who are determined enough to

advance through open distance learning.

Open distance learners tend to be motivated self-starters with the ability to follow-through assignments to completion and to adapt to dynamic environme

nts. They thrive on challenges. They are also goal-oriented individuals who see education as an ongoing

, lifelong process, both online and at the workplace.

Employers know that these learners

can perform effectively in any environment that requires multi-tasking and setting priorities. That is because the majority of these learners are working adults who have successfully juggled their careers, their studies, and their family responsibilities. They know how to prioritise their ta

sks.

Not surprisingly, research indicates that open distance learners are open-minded, flexible about workplace demands, and willing to adapt to tomorrow's technology. (Chronicle of Higher Education,4 November 1999)

Limited Edition Merdeka Car Sticker!!

Why sticker is better than mini Jalur Gemilang flag? Pls click the link below
bharian.com.my

The design on kelisa hood (silver metalic)

Tulisan "Malaysiaku Gemilang" ada senget sikit. Titik i pun indada. Biasalah, kereta eksperiment.

Reka bentuk : Logo dan tema hari kebangsaan tahun 2007
Kegunaan : Dilekat di bahagian hood/bonet kereta.
Material : Wheater proof sticker (thick type) easy to remove in future.
Teknik :
Saiz : 14 inci X 16 inci.
Harga : RM35 seunit.
Cara bayaran : COD
Penghantaran : By hand
Pemasangan : Disediakan atau boleh dipasang sendiri oleh pelanggan (Sonang ja bah tu!)
Updated : Offer is now closed. Wait for next year design..

Kudat Tourism Spot

Tanjung Simpang Mengayau - The Tip of Borneo
[ Location : Kudat ]

This dramatic headland is situated in the northern-most tip of BORNEO, the third largest island in the world, after Greenland and New Guinea. It is located in the Kudat Peninsula, about three and a half hours (or 215 kilometres) drive from Kota Kinabalu City.

Simpang Mengayau means 'lingering junction' as it is here that the South China Sea lingers and meets the Sulu Seas flowing from the east ... Enjoy the stunning view. The sunsets and full moons are just beautiful ... The Pulau Kalampunian lighthouse is a reminder of treacherous coastline and past shipwrecks. On the left is the beautiful beach of Pantai Kalampunian.

It's a lovely easy stroll to the flagpole, the Globe and the rocky outcrop that forms the "Tip of Borneo".

Ethnics in Sabah

Sabah is famous for her friendly and hospitable people. There are a staggering 32 different ethnic entities, each of which speaks a different language, plus another 80 or so dialects or variants from the main languages - see also our language/ethnic entity chart.

The largest group in Sabah comprises the Kadazandusun who are of Dusunic origin. The Bajau are the second largest group and the Paitanic the third largest. The largest non-indigenous group is made up of Chinese. All these people are, since the formation of Malaysia, Malaysian citizens and live together in harmony despite their different ethnic background and various creeds - a fact Malaysia can be truly proud of.

Most of the Dusunic and Paitanic people are nowadays Christians, with a minority still adhering to their ancient animistic faith. The Bajau are Muslims, and the Chinese Buddhists and Christians.

Most Chinese have settled in towns, where they have their businesses, but some live in the interior and are farmers. The Bajau are coastal dwelling people while the Paitanic people live in the far interior. Kadazandusuns can be found throughout Sabah.
